Adopt a Dachshund / Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat)

Hi. My name is Oscar Mayer.  I am a 4-year-old chiweenie.  I weigh about 11 pounds. My previous owner had to surrender me when she became too ill to care for me.  Fortunately, I have found a wonderful foster family who is taking good care of me until I find my furever home. 



My foster mom says I am one of the happiest dogs she has ever fostered.  My nickname is “snuggles” because that is my favorite thing to do. I love to snuggle with my foster mom.  Once I am attached to a person I follow them everywhere. 



Because I am a chiweenie, I can jump very high and can jump on furniture. My foster mom says I must have a securely fenced backyard with a 6' fence (no exceptions).  I absolutely love sleeping in the big bed at night, under the covers.  I am crate trained but because I am house trained my foster mom leaves me free when she is away from home.



I currently live with a foster fur brother.  It took me a little while to warm up to him.  But now we are best buddies. My foster mom thinks that I would do well with a family that has a youny dog to keep me company.

Adoption Fee:  $275.00 + $45.00 for a health certificate if going over state lines (required by law).  Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by the state departments of agriculture. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue, and all dogs adopted in New England states are subject to an additional $135 fee to help cover a portion of these expenses.

If you see a furbaby that is a match for your family, don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption. LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
